Hello friends,
This year just keeps getting better! I realized I had not written a post in a very long time, as I have been planning my wedding...which happened last week! I couldn't be more thrilled about life, both personally and professionally.
So far, 2018 has been an amazing year for OPT! Having kicked off the year with a brand new Board of directors and a wonderfully successful Valentine's Day gift giving opportunity, and benefit concert with Falling for Tuesday at The Loft on Front...OPT has had nothing but support and encouragement.
After weeks of voting, 5038 votes, and an intense committee discussion, Wilmington Downtown Inc awarded OPT a concert for the 2018 Downtown Summer Concert Series. This means, wristbands will be sold to those wishing to purchase beer and wine during the weekly Friday evening concert, and the money raised will be distributed to the nine organizations who received the most votes! OPT was 5th out of 42 worthy organizations! Thank you to all who showed your support by voting!
The most recent WILMA Magazine was published this week and features Operation Pretty Things (on page 30, for those of you wishing to pick up a copy and read it :)) Click HERE to read the article! I think this is our very first magazine article and i could not be more excited! The only way to stop the violence, is to stop the silence. This article does just that .
We have a lot going on in the next few weeks:
April 9 is the kickoff date to the Spring Pretty Things Drive! After making 400+ gifts this past Christmas and Valentine's Day, our inventory is severely depleted!! This means we gave some really wonderful gifts. It also means we NEED more pretty things ASAP! With Mother's Day right around the corner, we are hoping to collect enough products to make 200 gifts! This is only possible if you give. Please check our list of BBI dropbox locations for you to bring your donations.
April 17 - Ladies Night Launch Party for our nail polish line!! The Hope Collection is the first of our OPT cosmetic line! It is a Buy One, Give One opportunity!! For every nail polish purchased, one will be given to a woman in a domestic violence shelter! This has been a long time coming so i cannot begin to tell you how excited I am!! April 28 - Healthy Living Fest 2018 at Battleship Park. Come out to this FREE event and help us support Operation Pretty Things, Inc ! There are going to be a ton of things to do and enjoy! You can find all the details HERE on the fb event page.
And this is just April! I will post about our Mother's Day event (in May) and golf tournament (in July) soon. For now, I hope you are all as excited as I am about the days ahead. God is doing something extraordinary in our city. Because of your willingness to serve, and your generous hearts, we get to #LOVEBOMBTHEWORLD together :)
